Two tons of Magnificent Manhattan by Yutaka Sone

“Little Manhattan (2007-09)” is a beautiful, pristine white relief of our beloved island like we have never imagined it before.  It measures at 21 ¾ by 104 3/8 inches.  It’s carved as an independent entity, with sheer smooth cliffs that drop to the base. As a lover of the Palisades, I appreciate the “geographical license” taken by Yutaka that isn’t entirely unlikely.

This two and a half ton wonder, “Islands,” is at David Zwirner Gallery runs from September 20 – October 29, 2011.  Yutaka used Google Earth for a bulk of the research.
